The 12 Days of Christmas Survival

It's the final day of how to look after your health and wellbeing in the run up to the festive season

Set realistic expectations. Managing your expectation can be one of the best ways to make sure Christmas goes smoothly.

  1. Apply the 80:20 rule. If 80% of your Christmas plans go well then take that! So you can allow 20% to slip. Bear in mind that some of the most challenging situations end up making the best stories. These are the things Christmas legends are made of! Check out other people’s funny Christmas disasters.

  2. Accept that what will be, will be. The run up to Christmas day can be stressful, especially if you’re hosting. Take a deep breath and try to accept that you can’t please everyone.

  3. Manage expectations. We often feel pressure to have a ‘perfect’ Christmas and can end up disappointed. Remind yourself it is just one day. If you are cooking 15 vegetables with the turkey, accept that or 2 might be mushy (remember the 80/20 rule). Manage the expectations of your guests too. If you haven’t cooked for that number of people before, let them know. They’ll be much more inclined to be forgiving

Merry Christmas
