The 12 Days of Christmas Survival

How to look after your health and wellbeing in the run up to the festive season

Smile...even if you don’t feel happy!

  1. Smiling fools your subconscious into thinking you are happy, even when you’re not! Studies have confirmed that neurotransmitters such as dopamine, endorphins and serotonin, which increase our feel-good factor, are released when we smile. So if you are struggling to get into the Christmas spirit trying faking it until you make it.

  2. Studies have found smiling is contagious. Set the tone even with the most difficult of guests by giving them a huge smile. They’ll really struggle not to reciprocate!

  3. Smiling can help us manage stressful situations. Studies found that if you smile while completing a stressful task it can reduce your heart rate and make you feel less stressed.
