The Pilates reformer is one of the most versatile pieces of Pilates kit. It can help you progress from the Matwork exercises at a much faster pace, but equally it is suitable if you have never tried Pilates before. The reformer has a unique 5 spring system that means you can begin to add resistance to the movements right from the start. One of the most unique aspects of the reformer is the range of positions that you can use. Exercises can be done in lying, kneeling, sitting, standing on the reformer, standing to the side of the reformer and much more. This ability to alter the position of the exercise can mean the exercise is much more functional and transferable to everyday activities and that you will see excellent results. The Benefits of Reformer Pilates -It's a full body workout -The unique spring system allows you to not just target the large, prime muscles but also activate the smaller muscles used to stabilise the body. This can lead to a greater sense of balance and harmony throughout the body. -You can also work one side at a time, which is essential to address any weakness and prevent or rehab any injuries. -is low impact but high intensity -If you are coming back from an injury, Reformer Pilates is an excellent option (but please always speak to a medical professional about your situation before you try anything new). It gives you the option to increase the intensity of your workout without using the force of your bodyweight. Instead the springs and ropes mean you can make gentle, incremental increases in the intensity of your workout. -It tones muscles and builds strength. -This is a dynamic form of exercise and the reformer allows for equal force on both the contraction of the muscles and the eccentric release.
